TG Legal + Technology (TGLT) is excited to announce the appointment of renowned aged care lawyer Arthur Koumoukelis as Principal Lawyer and head of TGLT's Retirement Village Rollovers practice.
Arthur joins TGLT from sister firm Thomson Geer, where he was a Partner and a driving force in the Health, Aged Care, Disability and Retirement Living team. He developed and built the retirement and rollover practice within Thomson Geer and which ultimately became part of the TGLT firm.
With more than three decades of experience, Arthur is one of Australia’s most respected legal advisors in the sector, bringing unmatched expertise to TGLT at a time of unprecedented regulatory change and growth.
“I’m looking forward to leading the TGLT Rollovers team and working hand-in-hand with clients to deliver practical, resident-focused outcomes,” Arthur said. “This is a once-in-a-generation moment of reform and integration of aged care and retirement villages and we are committed to helping operators navigate the evolution with confidence.”
The retirement living sector is expanding rapidly, driven by Australia’s ageing population. The number of Australians aged 65+ is set to surge from 4.75 million in 2024 to more than 7 million by 2040 – creating both opportunity and complexity for operators across the country.
Arthur’s leadership in the sector is widely recognised:
At TGLT, Arthur will head the firm’s Rollovers practice, supporting village operators with the critical conveyancing and contractual needs of residents moving in and out of accommodation.
He will also continue to provide strategic advice across the wider aged care sector, leveraging his deep understanding of the intersection between seniors living environments and aged care, business, government, and community.
